In this letter to the editor, the authors report the case of a 53-year-old male diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia who attempted suicide by placing nicotine patches all over his body. He reconsidered his gesture and called for assistance.Similar cases which have previously been reported in the literature are discussed. (5 refs.)
