Prediction of young adult signs of disturbance through adolescent assessment data was studied. Family variables, parent & self-reported syndromes, competencies & stressful experiences were tested as predictors of poor outcomes including substance use, suicidal behavior, mental health services & police contacts. Poor school functioning predicted suicidal behavior in females. The Delinquent syndrome was predictive of suicidal behavior and was the best predictor of poor behavior. (16 refs.)
