22 patients seen in a clinic for systemic lupus erythematosus were tested for organicity, depression, anxiety & hostility. 4 of the clinic’s physicians ranked these patients from most to least liked. 10 of the patients were ranked among the 3 most disliked patients by 1 or more of the ranking physicians. This group of disliked patients included all patients with signs of organic brain damage & all suicidal patients. Physician dislike of a patient may be a clue to serious psychiatric impairment.
