In this letter to the editor, the authors comment on an article by Ellason & Ross regarding a 2-year follow-up of inpatients with dissociative disorder. They argue that the findings are not scientifically meaningful because Ellason & Ross only obtained follow-up information from 40% of their cohort. They provided no information about causes of death including suicide & made no reference to the natural course of the disease when untreated. A reply by Ross & Ellason follows. (6 refs.)
