Antonovsky’s Sense of Coherence Scale was used in a study focussing on the association between stressful life events & the development of suicidal ideation & behaviours. During their first week of training, 663 male Norwegian conscripts answered a questionnaire about lifetime & current suicidal ideation & behaviour. The lifetime prevalence of suicidal ideation & attempted suicide was 21.7% & 2.6% respectively. Suicide ideators & attempters had on average lower scores on the Coherence Scale.
