Graham contrasts child outcomes in Japan & the UK with respect to child abuse, behavior problems, suicide rates & deliquent behavior. Methods of child rearing are also contrasted. Suicide rates for both countries in the 15-24 age group are similar, and are actually lower than other industrialized countries. On the other hand, Japan has lower rates of child abuse & criminal behavior. Graham suggests that others should learn from Japan’s example, & that Japan should learn from other’s mistakes.
