The purpose of this session was to discuss the successes & difficulties of setting up a rural intersectoral suicide prevention project. The objectives of a suicide prevention program coordinated by the North Coast Public Health Unit were reviewed. This project aims not only to reduce the high incidence of suicide on the North Coast but also to improve the management of persons presenting with self-inflicted injuries. Smaller working groups are also addressing specific areas of health care.
