Suicide Prevention: a Legitimate and Emerging Role for Mental Health Professionals

This presentation examined the role of mental health services in suicide prevention & outlined one model of suicide risk assessment. An analysis of incidental data on suicide attempters, re-attempters & outcomes was also presented. The author intended to encourage mental health services to embrace their role in suicide prevention by applying the principles of responsiveness, least restrictive care & empowerment.
