This presentation considered relative & likely risks to attempters & survivors, & issues peculiar to survivors. Research into the influence of mental illness in suicide attempts & its loading-up of suicidal ideation before & after the event was examined. The relationship between suicides & survivors was described. Finally, the principle of harnessing & channelling survivor emotions & consumer experience into an effective role in suicide coping measures & suicide minimisation was discussed.
