The Suicide Experience – From a Self Help Group and Bereavement Perspective (IN: Suicide Prevention: Public Health Significance…, by the Public Health Association of Australia Inc.)

The focus of this paper is on the experiences of those bereaved by suicide, particularly parents & siblings. The authors report on their own experiences after the suicide of their 18-year-old son. They discuss & analyze their experiences with the Victorian chapter of The Compassionate Friends. The paper ends with some tentative observations & suggestions related to the suicide experience – both prevention & postvention. (8 refs.)
