In this letter, Erickson expresses the pain she felt after her 14 year-old son’s suicide. She describes her experience in the hospital upon learning of her son’s death, and her emotions in the time after, including anger. She explores her journey into finding the reason behind her son’s death, and the grief and pain that resulted. Although she can never bring him back, Erickson does hope to spread awareness of the pain that suicide can bring to those that are contemplating it.
