This study had 2 aims: to find the prevalence of eating disorders in a national (Swiss) sample of 15-20 year olds, and to find psychological/behavioral problems associated with eating disorders. 1,084 females were surveyed. Two major dimensions were revealed: weight & image concerns (WIC) and problematic eating conducts (PEC). 62% wanted to lose weight & 37% had fasting episodes. Girls with high WIC or PEC scores reported more mood, suicide & conduct problems. (45 refs.)
