Abstract
AIDS and Rational Suicide: a Counseling Psychology Perspective or a Slide on the Slippery Slope
Rogers J R~~Britton P J
3 specific concerns are expressed with an article by Werth (see SIEC #930334) in which an argument for rational suicide for individuals diagnosed with AIDS is presented. This article suggests an alternative paradigm when working with suicidal ideation in AIDS-challenged patients. It is argued that proactive work needs to focus on individual developmental issues as well as the larger social, political, & medical realiteis faced by persons challenged by AIDS. (21 refs.)
