This study explored the association between psychosocial variables & symptoms among patients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders who have attempted suicide & those who had not. 29.2% of 336 patients in the study group reported one or more suicide attempts. Compared with patients who had not made an attempt, attempters had a greater number of lifetime depressive episodes, an earlier age of onset of their illness & an earlier age at first hospitalization.
