Access to Means of Suicide by Young Australians: a Background Report

This report opens with a discussion of data sources, collection & reporting. The methods of suicide used by Australians, ages 15-24, are detailed in Section 2. A review of the international & Australian literature on method availability & acceptability & the effect of these factors on suicide rates is presented in Section 3. Section 4 describes prevention strategies for six specific methods of suicide. The conclusion of this report briefly summarizes the main findings of the study.
