This pamphlet discusses depression in the elderly. Common symptoms of late-life depression are listed & some reasons why elderly people may become depressed are discussed, e.g. life changes, loss, & other illnesses. Common treatments for depression are described including: psychotherapy, antidepressant medications & electroconvulsive therapy. The risk of suicide is briefly addressed as is caring for an elderly person who may be depressed.
