Kelleher describes the death of his elderly family dog through fatal injection. This leads into his contemplation on whether humans should die like this as well. He questions why euthanasia is wrong with humans when it is permitted with animals. Kelleher brings up the fact that while in most countries it is not illegal to take your own life, it is a crime to help someone else do so. Reasons why this is the case, such as the state’s wish to retain power over life & death, are suggested.
