This study investigated the clinical utility of the MMPI-A in assessing suicidal risk factors by examining the unique contribution of the content scales & Harris-Lingoes subscales. 143 adolescent inpatients were studied. The results of this study support continuing emphasis being given to the role of depression, home & school problems, substance use, sexual activity, hostility, hypomanic behaviour & mood fluctuations in the prediction of suicide probability for both boys & girls.
