This study examined the characteristics of 392 youth suicides occurring in Paris, between 1989-96, & analyzed the psychodynamic factors leading to the suicide. 66% of victims were males. The mean age of victims was 22 years. One-third of the victims had previously attempted suicide. Depression, schizophrenia, affective disorders, interpersonal problems, antisocial behaviour & borderline personality were found to be the most frequent disorders & stressors involved in the suicides.
