Conwell reviews Hendin’s book, which opposes physician-assisted suicide. Hendin bases much of his arguments on The Netherlands’ experience. He also considers the American fear of dying a “technological” death as contributing to American support for euthanasia. Instead, society should aim for “caring beyond cure.” Although at times Hendin’s opinions seem biased, he presents a frightening view of physician-assisted suicide that people should know.
