The adaptation of dialectical behaviour therapy for use in a partial hospital program for women is described. About 65% of participants meet at least 3 criteria for borderline personality disorder & most have suicidal or self-inurious behaviour. The hospital program is linked to an aftercare program; both focus on teaching patients 4 skills: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation & distress tolerance. Anecdotal evidence suggests the effectiveness of this modified therapy.
