Previous Danish studies have shown that schizophrenics are more accurately diagnosed for the first time if they have been suffering from it for a longer time. In this study, the aim was to find the demographic/clinical predictors of early or late diagnosis of schizophrenia in relation to the first admission. Clinical outcomes as a result of the diagnosis were also studied. Of the 53 patients studied, 6 later committed suicide. (35 refs.)
