In 1962, the authors did a follow-up of patients who had been admitted to the National Hospital in England during 1951, 1953, & 1955 & who had been given a diagnosis of hysteria. 85 of 99 patients were contacted. 3 men & 1 woman had committed suicide three to six years after being in the hospital.
