This article presents the case of a 34-year-old Hispanic male with a 2-year history of untreated depression who attempted suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning 6 months prior to admission to an inpatient psychiatric unit. The patient developed obsessional ideas & compulsive behaviours which had not existed prior to the suicide attempt. This case adds to the literature on the neuroanatomical basis of obsessive-compulsive disorder. (15 refs.)
