Deliberate Self-Poisoning With Eucalyptus oil in an Elderly Woman

In this case report, the suicide of a 73-year old Australian female through the ingestion of 200 mL of pure eucalyptus oil is described. Her physical symptoms after ingestion are listed. The author recommends that eucalyptus oil, whose toxicity is poorly recognized, should be regulated more carefully as it is easily obtained. (6 refs.)
