The incidence of RCMP suicide from January 1984-December 1995 was studied & comparisons were made with past RCMP statistics & general population suicide rates. There were 29 suicides in the study period. A discussion of the literature is presented. Findings indicate that some of the factors related to the suicides were alcohol abuse, financial difficulties, legal problems & illness. Work-related stress was sometimes involved in the suicide. Prevention strategies are discussed. (47 refs.)
