Adolescent suicides, which constitute over 2/3 of all suicides, is discussed. Lethal or communicative suicide attempts are differentiated. Intents & motivations of suicide are given. Psychopathology is also discussed as 1/3 of adolescent suicides had mental illnesses, such as depression & schizophrenia. Role of the family, role of the family practitioner, & crisis intervention are considered. Symptoms of depression and myths & facts about suicide are provided.
