All 130 patients, aged 65+, admitted to the Winnipeg Psychiatric Institute in 1964, were included in a six-year follow-up study. 98 patients had died within 6 years of admission. There were only 2 suicides, both in patients diagnosed with affective disorders. (8 refs.)
