In this letter to the editor, the authors present the case of a 34-year-old woman who suffered from mania induced by hormone induction of ovulation for the treatment of infertility. After the manic symptoms subsided & the patient became aware of her uncharacteristic behaviour, she became clinically depressed & was hospitalized with suicidal ideation. She responded well to treatment with sertraline. The risk of medication-induced manic & depressive symptoms is discussed. (5 refs.)
