This document opens with statistics on Maori youth suicide. The role of culture & colonisation in both the incidence & prevention of Maori youth suicide is explored. Risk factors for suicide among New Zealand youth generally, Maori youth, & indigenous youth internationally are discussed. Intervention strategies are reviewed. Maori youth perspectives on prevention are included as are the components of a national Maori youth suicide prevention stragy.
