This study found that the neuropathology of postmortem brains from suicide victims varies based on psychiatric illness. Neuroimaging studies reveal an altered pattern of cortical metabolism in schizophrenic (SCZ) patients. Analysis of the brains of postmortem SCZ, bipolar & depression suicide victims show some differences & similarities, some of which seem similar to the changes found in neuroimaging. Morphopathology in brain tissue varies with psychiatric disease of the victim. (62 refs.)
