This paper examines the effect of genetics on suicidal behavior. Studies involving suicide in adolescents, adults, psychiatric patients, twins, the elderly & Amish citizens are discussed in relation to a genetic link. These studies found a relationship between suicide (or at least mental illness) & hereditary factors. The effect of genotype on the production of serotonin & other hormones that are related to aggression & suicide is also detailed. (72 refs.)
