In this article, the author reminisces about the suicide of his friend & colleague on a November day more than 30 years ago. He wonders if, and how, he missed signs that may have indicated his friend was suicidal. Although he knows that he was neither responsible for the suicide nor could have prevented it (the friend gave no indication of his plans & left no way of being rescued), each November his uncertainty arises again.
