The intent of this article is to provide information on assisted suicide for nurses, including the history of the issue, terminology, legal & ethical issues, & implications for nursing practice. In addition, the concept of conscientious objection will be used as a framework for analysis of the dilemma of the nurse who holds an individual ethic that differs from the position of the profession.
