Why the elderly have good morale despite biological and social decline is the main topic of this article. Suicide in the elderly, and what physicians can do about it, is discussed. Statistics for elderly who suffer from depression are also given. Education programs are recommended as being an effective way to reduce depression and suicide in the elderly.
