Suicide Prevention in Canada: Work in Progress (IN: Suicide in Canada, edited by A A Leenaars, S Wenckstern, I Sakinofsky, R J Dyck, M J Kral & R C Bland)

This chapter reviews suicide prevention in Canada by using 5 criteria to examine strategies in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick & the Northwest Territories. British Columbia, Alberta, New Brunswick & the Northwest Territories were found to have fairly well-defined frameworks with an overall purpose & a set of defined goals & strategies. A guiding framework which could be adopted provincially is said to be the most promising approach to suicide prevention.
