In this chapter, Masecar states that the greatest barrier to suicide prevention in rural areas may be the way that people continue to think of the problem & the potential solutions. A hypothetical scenario describes a patterned response to suicide. Masecar discusses why this approach may not work over the long term. A new way of thinking about rural suicide prevention is proposed; it involves changing & widening perceptions & incorporating creativity & energy into the design of the response.
