Suicide & internal violent crime rates among the Aboriginal population in some areas of Canada run at six to ten times the national average. In this chapter, Sinclair discusses the historical events that have contributed to these problems & how history can teach people & governments how to develop better solutions. Sinclair asserts that Aboriginal peoples must take control of who they are to be & they must feel & believe that they are in control of their destinies. (2 refs.)
