This poster reported on a study of factors associated with any variation in suicide between weekdays & weekends in Finland. It was postulated that employment status would influence the weekly pattern of alcohol misuse thereby causing a clustering of suicides among the employed during the weekend. Results supported the hypothesis & suggested that besides the established suicide risk factors for alcohol misusers, the act of using alcohol per se also contributes to the suicidal act.
