Results were presented of a comparison of the suicide rate in Lithuania in 3 periods of different political, economical & social conditions. The suicide rate fluctuated insignificantly in 1930-1940, a period of Lithuanian indepedence. Rates increased significantly in both 1980-1990, the end of Soviet occupation & 1991-1994, the start of the new indepedent republic. The current political & economic situation is said to have had a great impact of the level of self-aggressiveness.
