In this workshop, Rigby argued that retrospective evidence about a suicide victim’s peer relations may have doubtful validity. An alternative/complementary strategy is to survey children about their peer relationships & the extent to which they engage in suicidal ideation & actual self-harm. Results were presented from 3 studies in South Australia between 1994-1996 that assessed relative suicide risk as a function of childrens’ involvement in bully/victim problems at school.
