This session explored the relationship between hazardous & harmful drug use & suicide risk in the context of structural barriers that impede effective responses. In particular, the experience of drug specialists & mental health services were examined & resolutions to the barriers were explored. Using current models of addiction behaviour, participants were introduced to the clinical implications of drug use patterns. A framework for treatment approaches was provided.
