This presentation discussed a psychoanalytic interpretation of suicide as the manifestation of autoaggression. The repression of ambivalence & the internalization of aggressive images of the “rival mother” or “rejecting father” were said to contribute to the formation of the individual’s aggressive energetic potential. Three categories of suicide risk levels were outlined.
