One approach to limit the risk of suicidal behaviours in psychiatric patients is to develop & operationalize minimum standards of care. This presentation provided a framework for developing standards of care for both outpatient & inpatient settings. Actions that would be appropriate for the practicing clinician, hospital staff & hospital administrators were discussed.
