This study examined the psychiatric morbidity in members of bereaved families of 16 suicide completers & their need for intervention & postvention services. Clinical diagnoses of depression & adjustment orders were made in 4 cases. 8 survivors felt the need for intervention. Many survivors, though stigmatized, were surprised to find that postvention services were available. Even though postvention is often not sought by suicide survivors, this study indicated a need for these services in India.
