Information was gathered over a period of 3 years from 15-16-year olds in 44 secondary schools in Victoria, Australia. Self-report measures of deliberate self-harm, & alchol & marijuana use were obtained. The 12-month weighted prevalence estimate for deliberate self-harm was 5.1% with significantly higher report rates among females. The prevalence of true suicidal self-harm was 0.2%. Psychiatric morbidity had the strongest association with deliberate self-harm for both genders.
