It was postulated that early caretaking experiences have a powerful impact on self-destruction through the formation of alterations in the experience of the body & negative attitudes toward the body. Relevent literature was reviewed. Some of the destructive processes intervening between distorted caretaking, experiences of & attitudes toward the body were described. It was suggested the the role of the body in suicide may turn out to be an important avenue for future research.
