A questionnaire about social climate & supportive factors in work with suicidal patients, attitudes towards these patients & personal suicidal behaviour was given to a random sample of mental health care workers in Sweden. 60% of 1025 questionnaires were returned. Subjects who reported either ideation or a suicide attempt did not report difficulties in working with suicidal patients. The work environment & peer support were important factors in respondent attitudes & work with suicidal people.
