This session described a study in trends in attempted suicide by poisoning during social revolutionary events in Tallinn, Estonia. Data from hospital patients treated for self-poisoning were analysed. Results showed a moderate increase in the number of suicidal poisonings & significant changes in the toxic agents which were used. The influence of legislation & the availability of chemicals & drugs on the choice of the toxic agent used for self-poisoning is discussed.
