Humphrey described the beginnings & progress of Speranza, a consumer driven project to minimize suicide, moderate mental illness, & promote mental health & vital living in Australasia. Speranza advocates a national hotline number for immediate access to national &/or local services & “Friendship Houses” for suicidal people, pre- or post-hospital, & respite for bereaved family members.
